B pharmacy and D pharmacy are two most sort after courses in the field of pharmacy.

Let’s talk about bachelors of pharmacy first B pharma or bachelors pharmacy is a program of Pharmacy at the undergraduate level B pharma can be done by two ways. First is regular B Pharma, which you can do after your 12th class. Another one is lateral entry, which can be done after D pharma which means after D pharma you can get direct entry in second year of B Pharma. Whereas, D pharma or diploma in pharmacy is a full time course of the diploma level that teaches pharmacy at a different degree then b Pharma.

Now, let us compare the duration of D pharm course and duration of B pharm course . The duration of regular B Pharma is four years and B pharma legal entry is of three years. It has to be done compulsorily by anyone who aspires to practice as a pharmacist. The course of D Pharma is of two years and it is divided into four semester.

Eligibility For B Pharmacy and D Pharmacy

To get admission in B pharma candidates must have completed his or her 12th class which science stream compulsory subjects opted by the students in class 12 must include physics, chemistry and biology or Math with minimum aggregate marks of 50 to 60 person and to get admission B pharma lateral entry, you must have done D pharma with minimum 45% marks and 40% marks in the case of SC, ST category candidates.

Furious to get admission in the D pharma candidates must have done well plus in science stream with physics, chemistry, biology or math with minimum aggregate marks of 45 to 60% marks from any recognized school, but he or she must have cleared the exams of all the subjects in his or her qualifying examination. Students with biotechnology or computer science in 12th class are also eligible for both the courses.

B Pharmacy Vs D Pharmacy – Admission Process

Now comes the admission process. In the Pharmacy course admission is provided on the basis of rank obtained in the pharmacy entrance exam conducted by most of the reputed pharmacy Institute’s. Whereas in D Pharmacy course, admission is usually provided on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying exam that is 12 class. However, some reputed institutes do take entrance exam to provide admission even in the D Pharmacy course.

B Pharmacy Vs D Pharmacy – Course Curriculum

Now, the course curriculum of D pharmacy and B pharmacy in B pharmacy total of 6 to 12 subjects are covered per year depending upon the Institute and candidates performance is just on the basis of one annual exam in May or June, which is of 80 marks and two sessional exams of 10 marks which are conducted in September or January. However, some colleges do conduct semester wise exams. Whereas in the D Pharma course, a total of six subjects are covered per year, the evaluation process is almost same as that of B pharmacy.

Now, you would like to know the fee structure of both these courses. The average fee of B Pharmacy course is somewhere between rupees 40,000 to pay 60,000 in government Institute’s and rupees 80,000 to rupees one lakh per annum in private Institute’s whereas D pharma courses are relatively cheaper. You may have to pay somewhere between rupees is 10,000 to rupees 15,000 per annum in government institutes and rupees 40,000 rupees 50,000 in private is these fee structures are highly tentative and may vary from Institute to institute.

B Pharmacy Vs D Pharmacy – Career Prospects and Job Opportunities

Now, I would like to tell you about the career prospects and job opportunities after B pharmacy and D pharmacy. After doing D pharmacy, you can get jobs in both the government as well as private sector in government sector. You can get jobs in hospitals, clinics, railways, medical cops of armed forces and employ state insurance, corporation, etc. In private sector, you have opportunities to work in pharmaceutical companies and hospitals like Forties etc.

Same like D Pharma. After doing D pharma you can get jobs in both government as well as private sector at equivalent or upper level in the hierarchy. But after doing B pharmacy, there are options of taking all the graduate level exams like drug inspector exam, UPSC exam, SSC exam and can also go for regulatory affairs, quality control, medical underwriting and production etc. And along with it, B former graduates can also go for higher studies like MS pharmacy M. pharmacy, Pharma D and MBA pharma and you can also become eligible for GPET exam.

B Pharmacy Vs D Pharmacy – Salary

Now, let us compare salary after D pharmacy and B pharmacy costs. After doing D pharma you can expect to get something between rupees 15,000 to rupees 25,000 in private sector and between 20,000 to rupees 50,000 in government sector. However, the salary largely depends upon the organization you are working and the amount of experience and expertise you have. And of course, there is no upper limit of income for those who own their own pharmacy stores.
There is after doing B pharmacy you can expect to get something between rupees 30,000 to rupees 50,000 per month in government sector and rupees 20,000 to rupees 35,000 in private sector.

What Should You Do D Pharmacy Vs B Pharmacy

Now, the most important question what should you do D pharmacy or B pharmacy with D pharmacy the maximum you can do is run your own retail pharmacy or work somewhere at retail pharmacy counter. Even in the government sector. There are limited opportunities of progress in the organization. So, if your financial conditions are not so good and you want to settle a little early in your life, then you should go for two years D Pharmacy course and start working immediately at a retail store you will definitely get opportunities to go for lateral entry in B pharmacy and higher studies after that.

But after doing four years B pharmacy there are a lot of opportunities for you like from working in MNCs to working at coveted post after clearing various entrance exam. With your B pharmacy degree you get enough confidence that can help you start up your own pharmaceutical company to. In short, B pharmacy is way better than D pharmacy in the current scenario.
